In May of 2018 Hutchison Smith Architects was selected by DPW to provide analysis and recommendation to solve the moisture intrusion at Boise State University’s Student Rec Center Gymnasium, which had been plagued with this issue since opening in 2 001.
The scope of work included sealing off the entire gymnasium from the rest of the building that was to remain open to the public. The deteriorating gym wood flooring was removed, the concrete substrate was ground to meet the required tolerance for a wood gym floor, topical penetrating floor sealer was applied and a new maple gym floor installed.
