American Falls is located in southeastern Idaho with a population of 4,428, nestled along the edge of the Snake River and the American Falls Reservoir.

HSA conducted an existing facility analysis and feasibility study, which determined that it would cost far more to upgrade their current high school to meet current building code requirements than constructing a new state-of-the-art building.  With the support of the community and the school board, they elected to build a new facility.

The design of the new high school took into account not only the academic requirements but community use; thus, incorporating an academic wing and community wing, each with its separate and secure entrance.  The community enters the building through the open commons for community and athletic events secured from the rest of the building.  In addition, each entry is well lit throughout the year to increase security and safety, which was a top priority to the School District.

The gymnasium accommodates a 50′ x 94′ performance basketball court, two full-size cross basketball courts, performance volleyball courts, and two cross-court full-performance volleyball courts, with retractable bleacher seating for 1500 people.  The high school Media Center is a spacious, bright, and open area where monitoring student activities is easily managed. The design provides a comfortable space to read and conduct research.  The auditorium offers 876 seats in an optimum acoustic and climate-controlled environment, providing an excellent performance area for students and the community.
