American Falls, Idaho American Falls High School
American Falls in located in southeastern Idaho with a population of 4,428 and is nestled along the edge of the Snake River and the American Falls Reservoir.
The existing high school was demolished as it was not fit for purpose and would have required a large remodel to bring the building up to the current code. A large addition would have to be incorporated to provide the required educational space and the decision was made by the School District to proceed with a new school. American Falls High School is designed with an academic wing and a community wing, each with its’ own entrance. The community enters the building through the open commons for the strictly and athletic events which allows for security to the rest of the buildings. Each entrance is well lit throughout the year to increase security and safety which was a top priority to the School District.
The Gymnasium accommodates a 50’ x 94’ performance basketball court, 2 full size cross basketball courts, performance volleyball courts and 2 cross- courts full performance volleyball courts. With retractable bleacher seating for 1500 people. The high school Media Center is a spacious, bright, and open area where monitoring of student’s activities is easily managed. The space was designed to provide a comfortable, well-planned area in which to read and conduct research. The auditorium provides 876 seats in an optimum acoustic and climate-controlled environment providing an excellent performance area for students and the community.
